Anna Messerly Thompson

D.P.T., Medical Analyst

Experience

Anna has spent over a decade in medical malpractice law, working closely with individuals and families whose lives have been forever changed by medical errors. She uses her background in physical therapy to help attorneys navigate the medical side of medical malpractice law. Anna’s job is best described as a medical detective. She dives into medical records and evidence, analyzes medical literature, crafts unique strategies, identifies expert witnesses, and excels at finding different paths to success.

Anna has worked up hundreds of cases alongside the medical malpractice team at Ciresi Conlin. She has been a part of numerous multimillion dollar settlements and verdicts, including the largest jury verdict in Minnesota history for a medical malpractice or personal injury case, when a federal jury in Minneapolis awarded Anuj Thapa, a young Nepalese immigrant, $111 million in 2022.

Anna received her undergraduate degree from St. Olaf College and a doctorate in physical therapy from the University of Minnesota Medical School’s Department of Rehabilitation Medicine. Outside of the office, she enjoys coaching her kids’ hockey teams, running, cross-country skiing, traveling, and going to her cabin in northern Wisconsin.
